Choosing The Right Blush for the Right Skin Tone

Achieving that perfect glow for your skin can be quite a bit tricky. There are times when you end up with purplish bumps on your cheeks, a sick, orange bruise, or a sallow, too pinkish blush spots that could make a clown cringe at the thought of it. Applying blush could be very tricky, but it’s worth the patience and the quest when you start your day with that healthy tinge of vitality on your cheekbones. Today, we’ll be picking on the right blush shades that’s perfect for all skin tones, and don’t worry about what brands to use, I’m sure there are ways around it, the most important thing is, you’re choosing the right hue and you won’t ever regret it.
Blush, per se, is not just that flush of color for the cheeks, most makeup artist and every Cosmo girl knows that it’s also quintessential in sculpting the face. And when it comes to color, pigmentation, form (liquid, powder, cream-to-powder, gel) and consistency, let’s see what we have so far.

With helpful advice from Youtube beauty guru Michelle Phan, most girls could identify warm from cool skin tones. Like in lipstick, warm hues have orange or red undertones, and cool colors own bluish undertones. So when you apply warm undertones to those with warm skin colors, it’s vibrant. And if you apply cool undertones to cool skin tones, it’s breathless. But it does not always mean that if you own a warm skin color, you need only to wear blush that’s orange to peach to tan. Or cool skin tones could only use pink to purple shades. Most makeup artists still look into the person’s overall personality. It really helps to blend a peachy pink blush with someone who smiles a lot. Choose what color you feel good wearing with.

Think about blush as highlighting the overall shape of your face, not just give a pinch of color to it. think brightening, but still natural. For people with olive to yellowish skin, a healthy peach tone looks nice, because t brightens up the complexion easily. That’s because olive or yellowish skin tones could look a little sallow at times. For those with fair skin, you’re lucky because you can get away with just any blush shade. Darker skin tones, like tan to deep tan to black, plum color tones, and deeper pink shades will do. Don’t be surprised, but a straight red blush could sometimes look gorgeous as well.

Find your right shade of blush, and stay beautiful, inside and out!

Beauty Sleep Benefits You Might Have Overlooked

Even machines need a time out to recharge, so why wouldn’t you? A good shut-eye is something that’s even more valuable than your endless status updates on social networks, not to mention the fact that it could definitely take away a chunk of the precious hours that you actually need to get a good night’s rest.

As a nurse, I could definitely give thumbs up to the fact that it’s almost impossible for patients in a hospital to get their much-needed uninterrupted night’s sleep: courtesy of the medical staff. It’s because of the fact that nurses need to check vital signs, and it’s a routine as per hospital protocol, administer due medications and antibiotics, and secure lab results, making sure that they’ll come in handy for the doctor’s early morning rounds. Technically, a good night’s rest is priceless and crucial in helping patients to recover from whatever pain they’re enduring which made them land in the hospital in the first place. But aside from hospital policies, you don’t need to get sick or injured to get the most out of sleep. Here are nuggets of wisdom on how nodding off at night could amp up your health.

That common cold you’re having right now may carry other symptoms that could further endanger your health. And a 2009 study taken from the journal Archives of Internal Medicine revealed that people who sleep less than seven hours a night are thrice more susceptible of getting a cold than those who get to sleep a sweet 8-hour-a-night.

A reboot does not only happen to movies and TV series dahling. Because sleep replenishes the cells and gives time and a chance for the body to carry out crucial maintenance duties, and that includes boosting up your immune system, and balancing the hormones and even patching up fatigued muscles.

There’s more to life than meets the eye, and a study taken from the journal Sleep back in 2008 found out that among elderly women, sleeping five to nine hours a day was definitely associated with a lower risk of mortality.

So hit the sack tonight and get that well-deserved sleep that you actually need, and smile! Stay pretty and glowing always!

Labor and Delivery Facts Women Should Know About

As a nurse, there’s nothing more fulfilling, exciting, and definitely exhilarating than seeing a mother give birth to a beautiful baby. And there’s nothing even more fulfilling than to see a mother shed tears of joy over the birth of her little bundle of joy. It’s definitely priceless. But listen up moms and new moms out there, if you’re having a baby on the way for the very first time or for the second or third or umpteenth time around, you may feel a little anxious and queasy about what will happen to you this time in the delivery room. Seriously, there’s nothing to be scared about. Read the fine print because we will be dealing with nuggets of wisdom and that you need to know, and the things you may not understand, that happens in the delivery room.

First of all, a mother should never be embarrassed when she lets out poop. Girl, when you’re in the delivery room, you can’t even deal with the way you look like anymore, so cut the useless struggle with a hairbrush or mascara wand. As a nurse, I have seen things enough to make a man of steal a bit squeamish: bulging boobs, blood gushing from your crotch, gore, even butts and lacerations in all the wrong places. Worse: poop. Don’t worry sister, as your attending nurse tells you to bear down then something unexpected and smelly comes out, it’s okay, you’re on the right track.  That only means you’re bearing down correctly. And don’t expect the people around you to turn up their noses, no, they’re trained to handle something as harmless as poop as much as they’re trained to handle bitchy, drugged mothers-to be.

Hollywood since the birth of film has exaggerated childbirth in so many movies, pays, and television series. All you see are women in semi-fowler’s position, with their legs apart, throwing their engagement rings and wedding bands and cursing their husbands for giving them such pain, but seriously, as much as your limitations in the form of pain relief (epidural, saddle block, general) is concerned, you can choose what position is best for you when you give birth. Take your pick from holding on to bars, on all fours, sitting down, even standing, or for the more holistic mother, bearing down in a tub of warm water. Of course you can do that!

Plan ahead. Weeks before your expected due date, try to pick out a few clothes for yourself and prepare the things that you’ll be needing when the baby’s out, from the moment you take a ride to the hospital until you take your little bundle of joy home. Feeding bottles, diapers, bibs, layettes, everything you definitely need. And oh, try to pick a few clothes for your husband too, that way, if he panics, you can still keep your cool knowing he’ll be finding whatever he needs even if you’re already in the DR. Nothing beats faster than a woman who’s already prepared for ‘the date’.

And if you ever think that shaving is required especially when your case calls for a C-section, it’s ok. Shaving is optional. And don’t worry about the health team’s reaction when they try to shave off what’s there below. After all, no one can blame you if you didn’t have a wax because you can’t see your belly. Same goes for your unpolished toenails.

I know you’d be annoyed when they raise the sterile blue or green sheet draped in line with your tummy, especially when you’re having a C-section. But trust me, it’s placed there for a reason. Perhaps you may not be prepared with the things that the doctor may be taking out of your body, and you may faint at the sight of it. All do have to do is enjoy the soft music, the calming effect of the anesthetic, and focus on the most important thing of all: your baby.
